ODOC: Escaped Prisoner Caught, Returned Into State Custody

UPDATE (9:23 a.m., Sept. 21, 2021): The Oklahoma Department of Corrections confirmed on Tuesday morning that escaped inmate Rodney Williams was returned into state custody in Oklahoma City without incident around 9 p.m. on Monday.

According to a release issued by the ODOC, agents were assisted by the Oklahoma City Police Department as well as the United States Marshalls.

Oklahoma Department of Corrections (ODOC) officials at the Jim E. Hamilton Correctional Center prison discovered that inmate Rodney Williams was not in his cell after the inmate count around 2 p.m. on Saturday, according to an ODOC press release.

The release says that a dummy was found in Williams' bed and covered with a blanket at the Le Flore County prison.

Officials searched the building and property for Williams around 3 p.m. and are now reviewing footage.

Williams is a 38-year-old male serving a 15-year sentence for drug trafficking out of Tulsa County.

The ODOC press release claims that Williams is a known gang member.
