Spartan College Of Aeronautics & Technology Acquires New Plane For Training Fleet

The Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology has added a new plane to its training fleet.

Chief Flight Instructor Beau Schrader said the plane is the 5,000th Piper Archer. He said it has technology that will put the school above the rest, like new weather systems and traffic avoidance features.

"Our students are going to be able to experience all of those technologies in their training and help them pursue in the industry," Schrader said.

Mayor G.T. Bynum said the city of Tulsa is hoping the planes will have an impact on the community and that it will help Tulsa be competitive in aerospace.

"Aerospace is one of our most important industries, I think it’s the industry we have the greatest opportunity for growth in," Bynum said.

Ten more Piper Archers will be delivered to the school in 2021.
