U.S. Travel Restrictions For Brazil Begin Tuesday

Brazilians are scrambling to make last minute arrangements to get to the United States ahead of new travel restrictions the Trump Administration is set to enforce.

A White House statement has now amended the timing of the start of these travel restrictions to 11:59 pm eastern Tuesday.

The restrictions were previously announced to begin on Thursday.

The White House has not given an explanation for the change.

Brazil has seen a surge of the Coronavirus, sitting behind the U.S. with nearly 380,000 cases.

National Security Advisor Robert O'Brien told Face the Nation that he hopes the restrictions won't be in place for long.

"We hope that'll be temporary. But because of the situation in Brazil, we're going to take every step necessary to protect the American people,” said Robert O’Brien.

Brazil's President has downplayed the severity of the virus and over the weekend was seen with anti-lockdown protestors in the nation's capital.
