Grand Opening For Sapulpa Animal Shelter Planned For Saturday

After waiting nearly 6 years, Sapulpa is opening its new animal shelter. The city began moving animals into the new facility Thursday afternoon, July 18.

Bond money approved a few years ago paid for the new shelter. The City said the old facility had reached its capacity, and the new building provides a much better environment for the animals.

"The cat cages are actually termed cat condos, and the dog cages are designed to be able to be sprayed out, so there can be a constant ability to clean and maintain the animals," said City Manager Joan Riley.

The grand opening is this Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. with a half-price adoption event happening to celebrate.  There will be a free T-shirt with every adoption.

The new Sapulpa Animal Shelter is located at 8810 W. 100th St. S. near Freddie's.
