Tulsa Young Professionals Looking To Re-Imagine Unused Alleyway

A run-down alley in Downtown Tulsa will be brought to life as a way to highlight how unused spaces can become destinations.

The alley is between 5th and 6th and Boston and Main in the Tulsa Deco District. This year the Tulsa Young Professionals chose to transform this area as their highlighted project for Street Cred 2019.

They say the alleyways of Downtown Tulsa are underused and people are starting to re-imagine them. This movement will hopefully turn these desolate spaces into places for art vendors and pop up shops.

"We hope that in this alleyway we can model what other parts of town could look like and really start thinking about connectivity but also real estate.  If this was an alleyway people could walk down regularly you could have storefronts opening into this part of town," said TYPROS Executive Director Maggie Hoey.

Some other areas that have been chosen for the TYPROS Street Cred projects include Route 66 and Kendall Whittier.
