Oklahoma Congressman MarkWayne Mullin Talks Government Shutdown

Oklahoma Congressman MarkWayne Mullin says he supports President Trump's proposal to reopen the government.

That compromise would extend temporary DACA protection to 700,000 immigrants as a way to jump-start negotiations on border security.

Congressman Mullin visited with 6 In The Morning Monday to talk about why supports the president. He also discussed the current state of Indian Health Service funding.

Mullin said Oklahoma's Native Americans shouldn't have to worry about healthcare.

"IHS isn't an agency, it's a true federal obligation based on treaties that were signed by the federal government to the separate tribes," he said.

"We are in breach - breaking that treaty if we don't continue paying IHS."

He proposed a bill last week which was shot down in committee.
