UPDATE: Man Faces Murder Charge After Brother Drowns Near Claremore

A man is in custody and his brother drowned after a chase ended in a crash near Claremore early Wednesday. Police said the two men were running from Claremore Police officers, who were trying to make a traffic stop.

Police tell News On 6 that Nazra Daly was arrested, and his brother, Zeth Daly, is dead, the result of a drowning in Panther Creek. Nazra Daly now faces a second-degree murder charge, authorities said.

The pursuit started at Ramm Road and Muskogee Avenue when a Claremore officer said he saw a car run a stop sign. He ran the tag on the car and learned the tag was stolen, according to an arrest report.

When the officer tried to pull the driver over, the officer said the man sped up and damaged a stop sign on Chickasaw Avenue before heading south of town.

Rogers County deputies joined the pursuit, which ended at E. 510 and S. 4180 roads when Nazra Daly crashed into a guardrail. Nazra and his brother Zeth got out of the car and ran, police said.

Authorities were able to arrest Nazra quickly.

But police said they heard yelling from nearby Panther Creek as they searched for Zeth. They saw him struggling in the water and tried to help him, but he went under.

Grand River Dam Authority, Owasso Fire Department and Tiawah Fire Department assisted in recovering the 23-year-old man's body.

Nazra Daly, 22,  was booked on complaints of receiving stolen property, eluding police, leaving the scene of an accident, driving with a suspended license and other traffic offenses. Records show he had two municipal warrants out for his arrest as well.

Authorities said a second-degree murder charge will be filed against Nazra Daly in his brother's death.
